About

Theorist & Limner

(Chelsea) Ren Morton is a life-long learner and a bit of a renaissance woman. Ren started wage-employment at the age of fourteen for local government, moved into the non-profit sector after undergraduate, and then into state government after completing her Masters of Public Administration with honors. Ren is currently pursuing her social science doctorate in work-family research and feminist family studies.

Over these last 20 years, Ren has held a variety of positions - often times holding multiple positions simultaneously. It is fair to say that Ren's favorite hobby is skill acquisition, and her roles have allowed her to acquire proficiency in research, website and database development, leadership, quality improvement, design, human resources, and budget management to name a few. Above all Ren is a theorist and artist who thinks deeply about the cultures she has found herself in and persistently ponders how people work together to accomplish their goals, whether in policy or art. Ren believes in leading in place- wherever that place may be.

*A Limner is a person who illuminates letters and manuscripts professionally. I am in training.

My Knowledges

"My mind is vast and I see connections everywhere," said I to a friend one night while discussing religious fundamentalism and career planning while practicing copperplate calligraphy with a dip pen.  As a theorist, I am most interested in how people define and experience concepts, and the multiple arenas where those concepts show up.  Hop over to my blog to trace these connections with me.

Like a layered painting, ideas are slowly built up over-time. My knowledge is not monolith. Instead I employ a variety of knowledge bases such as formal academics, informal training, and life experiences to play with ideas and their many manifestations.
